Death Valley National Park

We spent the evening in the town of Shoshone, CA at a nice RV park. The kiddos played football in the desert beside a mountain hill strewn with sun blackened boulders.

We left out early and took a slow drive through Death Valley. The kiddos earned completed another Junior Ranger Program and spent the next two hours describing the various colors, rocks, and dust devils that they saw.

We went to the lowest point in the park at an elevation of -270 feet below see level.  While in the park we were lucky enough to experience a desert rain shower that brought with it a refreshing smell and a wekcome infusion of moisture.

We also had a chance to drop in on the valley that was used to shoot the Star Wars scene in which the Sand People shot ambushed Luke and the Droids.

For lunch we stopped at a little roadside Oasis called Panamint Springs. This was a nice little dive establishment with plenty of beautiful scenery and standard bar food.

Overall, Death Valley was a beautiful experience and nothing like what is shown on television. I did not take very many photos due to the overall scale of the park and the fact that the photos just do not do justice to the experience.

This last photo I have named "No Room For Error".
