Manzanar National Historic Site

We visited Manzanar today so the kiddos could see first hand that your freedom is a very fragile thing and in the wrong hands government can strip you of that freedom.

The kids completed the Junior Ranger program for this park under the guidance of one of the children who grew up in the detention facility. He lives in Michigan and drives down every May to volunteer to give tours to school children.

The NPS video was very well made with photos of life in the camp interspersed with surviving detainees and war propaganda videos.

This site is out if the way and is worth the trip.
